Translated from Russian by Volodymyr Verkhoven. "Wars in Labyrinths. History of Special Services. 1939-1945. Neutral States of Europe and the USSR" is the fourth book of the fundamental five-volume work by Ukrainian historian Igor Lander, which comprehensively examines the activities of the world's special services in the interwar period and during World War II. The author carefully traced the evolution of intelligence, counterintelligence and cryptanalytic bodies of various states, describing in detail their structure, personnel and operations. The publication contains previously unknown documents from the archives of many countries. The vast majority of the presented material is being published for the first time.
This volume reflects the operational situation and development of events during World War II (from 1939 to 1945) in neutral countries of Europe (Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, the Vatican, the Irish Free State) and the USSR.
