"Wars in Labyrinths. The History of Special Services. 1919—1930" is the second book of a fundamental five-volume work by one of the most authoritative researchers of special services, Ukrainian historian Ihor Lander, in which the activity of the world's special services in the interwar period and during the Second World War is comprehensively investigated. The evolution of intelligence, counter-intelligence and cryptanalytic bodies of various states, their structure, personalities and operations are described. The vast majority of the material presented is being published for the first time.
This volume covers the events of the second interwar decade — from 1930 to 1939. However, it can only be considered interwar, because hundreds of millions of people on the planet were involved in military conflicts during this supposedly peaceful period.
