Unique documentary materials reflecting the historical past of the Belarusian people from 1812 to 1945 are collected in a series of books by Vladimir Likhodedov. The expositions reveal not only the times of war, but also years of peace. In the first half of the 20th century, many trials fell to the lot of Belarusians. They defended a peaceful life in battles with Napoleon's army in the Patriotic War of 1812, on the fronts of the First World War, the Civil War and the Great Patriotic War.
“The subject is peace and war,” says Vladimir Likhodedov. - I wanted to show the return to a peaceful life. Everything that is presented at the exhibition returned to its historical homeland. It took dozens of years to collect these rare and unique things, postcards, books and documents. Most of it has been donated to the National Library; some of the exhibits will be donated by the National Historical Museum. The documents of the XVI-XVII centuries are presented, including the privilege of the King of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth Sigismund III Vaza to the Minsk Uniate monastery (1617), unique and rare books and periodicals, metrics, manuscripts of the Belarusian Tatars (kitabs), copies of one of the first Belarusian editions of the XIX century - "Grodno Provincial Gazette" (1841), a medal for the capture of the city of Polotsk by Stefan Bathory in 1579, a commemorative cast-iron plate for the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Grunwald, the Radziwills' writing instrument and much more.
