Mir Castle is a tourist mecca for both Belarusians and foreign travelers. But how long can a tour of the castle, including a tour, take? Three or four hours, no more. It's time to turn your attention to the sights of g.p. A world that often stays outside of the classic excursion to Mir Castle.
The chapel-tomb of the Sviatopolk-Mirskis, the last owners of the Mir Castle, was comfortably perched on the eastern wall of the castle. It was built in the early 20th century in the then fashionable Art Nouveau style. Notice the mosaic image of Christ Pantocrator on the main facade. The "trick" of this image is that no matter what angle you look at it, the eyes of Christ will always be on you. In the tomb are the graves of six members of the Sviatopolk-Mirsky family. The most beautiful is the burial of Sonechka Sviatopolk-Mirskaya, who drowned in a castle lake as a child. Her spirit allegedly still wanders around the castle, periodically frightening the museum staff and late tourists.
