This monograph is a theoretical research of vocabulary of Finno-Ugric origin covering the entire area of Northwestern Russia. It gives a comparative description of problems of Finno-Ugric influence on the Russian language. The book contains lexical analysis of writings belonging to different folklore genres grouped according to their subject-matters: names of plants, agricultural instruments, fishing and hunting utensils. The monograph also studies Finno-Ugric entries in Northwestern dialect groups, phonetic substitution and lexical adaptation when borrowed by Russian dialects.
