The story "Viy"" is a mystical story about an evil force that entered the golden fund of the world literature. Khoma Brut, a student of the Kyiv bursa, goes on vacation together with his friends Halava and Tiberius Horobets. But a meeting with a witch turns rest into a struggle for one's life and soul. Having miraculously defeated the evil force, Khoma returns to Kyiv. And he immediately learns that a young lady (witch) has died, who bequeathed that Khoma should perform a funeral service.
