The collection devoted to the art during the World War I was compiled by employees of the department of history and theory of fine arts and architecture in 2014–2021, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the events under study. From different positions, corresponding to personal scientific interests, the authors try to highlight the diversity of phenomena brought to life not only by the war itself (1914–1918), but also by the decisive turn of painting towards modernism, and, on the contrary, by the persistence of architecture of the 1910s in following classical or national-romantic motifs.
