The book narrates about dramatic fate of the Russian diplomat P.P.Vvedenskii. He served in Persian Azerbaijan at the beginning of the XXth century, the cruel times when the Soviet government tried to establish its power in Bukhara. Due to his extraordinary personality Vvedenskii managed to protect Russian settlements from starvation and prevented bloody massacre that the Soviets had provoked.
