This book explores the work of the Russian artist Vasily Ivanovich Surikov, creator of such legendary paintings as "The Morning of the Streltsy Execution," "Boyarynya Morozova," and "The Conquest of Siberia by Yermak," who embodied the full scope of the Russian soul in his work. Vasily Ivanovich Surikov was born on January 24 (12), 1848, in Krasnoyarsk. He came from an ancient Cossack family, members of which came from the Don to Siberia with Yermak and later served as guards.
