This book contains the unfinished memoirs of Anatolii Vahnianyn, a prominent Galician politician of the second half of the 19th century, a deputy of the Vienna Reichsrat and the Halychyns sejm, a composer, writer, historian, the first chairman of the "Prosvita" society, organizer of singing societies, director of the Lysenko Music Institute. The memoirs highlight the author's studies in the schools of Przemysl, the Russian theological seminary in L'viv, the University of Vienna, tell about the beginnings of the Ukrainian national movement in Halychyna in the 1860s.
