The theme of this conference was not chosen by chance. The past year was an anniversary year for some significant events in Russian history: the 210th anniversary of A. I. Herzen, the 100th anniversary of the formation of the USSR and the 100th anniversary of the "philosophical steamship". Participants were invited to continue the tradition of comparing different positions in the study of utopia and dystopia, discussing current problems of the functioning of utopian consciousness in society and new fundamental approaches that allow us to cover both the value dimension of utopia and its ontological and epistemological foundations.
