This is the fifth edition of Nasya Kralevska's book, which has been compared with the best memoiristic works of Bulgarian literature. One gets the feeling that, paradoxically, what happened in Bulgaria after the democratic changes of 1989 didn't actually "happen" until now, because the events acquired their meaning and conceptual completion only in Kralevska's documentary accounts. This is a courageously written book full of accurate and strong images. Kralevska has set the standard by which all future attempts to describe the post-1989 Bulgarian metamorphoses will be judged.
