Commemorative edition "University in History and History of University" is devoted to the 40th anniversary of Omsk F. M. Dostoevsky State University. It covers the formation and development of the University in social and cultural context of Siberia and Russia. The authors investigated different aspects of formation of University in Omsk: historical context of University development, creation of faculties, departments and scientific school and centers under the influence of main scientific and educational centers (Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Irkutsk, Moscow, Kazan etc.). Special attention is drawn to the process of creation of professors' and students' communities, to the problems and perspectives of their development.
