There are few national histories in which one's own elite is so vehemently put out the door. The nobility in the "only correct" Ukrainian past - exclusively heroic Cossacks and disadvantaged peasants - has not found a place for a long time. And when her presence was noticed, they didn't let her in. So, having inherited it - castles, churches, books, academies, valuables - we practically do not know what and how those people lived every day. So this book is a proposal to get acquainted with the Ukrainian nobility, but in a slightly unusual way, through the narration of events from her life, where she appears not only in a ceremonial kuntusha, but different - sometimes in completely shabby home clothes. These are 105 stories about how those people thought of themselves, how they quarreled and reconciled, how they fell in love and got married, how they fiercely defended their case in court and what that court was like, after all - they were extras and spectators in history , stubborn and persistent in defending and building their own.
