The book, in a popular science format, discusses the origin of the self-name "Ukraine" and its transformation into a single name for the Ukrainian world, traces the emergence of identity of "Ukrainians", "Ukrainian people". The scientific argument refutes the manipulative versions of the genealogy and the meaningful filling of the concept of "Ukraine". The nature of our other self-name - "Rus" and its derivatives - is clarified: "Russia", "Little Russia" / "Little Russia", "Big Russia" / "Great Russia", "Russian people", "Little Russian people" . It is shown that Muscovy appropriated the name "Rus" and its Greek counterpart "Russia", claiming the world as having its natural name.
