The paper traces the popularity and demand for documentary drama at the present stage and its acquisition of stable forms, which makes it possible to single it out as an independent type of screen art. The formation and development of documentary drama in Belarus, which are primarily associated with the name of the director Vladimir Bokun, are also investigated.
