Alexey Petrovich Storozhenko (1806-1874) - Ukrainian writer, ethnographer, artist. The author of the first memoirs about N.V. Gogol. The influence of N. Gogol appeared on the writer's work, with whom he was personally acquainted and left memories of him. Storozhenko's main work, "Marko of Curses", is a mixture of heterogeneous legends and beliefs in a strong author's rework. Science fiction in the writer's work is represented by the legendary fantastic story "Zakhaniy devil", based on the legend of love between a devil and a witch. A special place in the creative Storozhenko is occupied by humorous stories: "Vusi", "Golka", "Suzhena", "Devil's tavern", fairy tales: "Three sisters", "Skarb". These works are based on the widespread use of Ukrainian folklore, demonology (well-known subjects have been processed), they combine fantastic elements with a realistic depiction of peasant life and customs.
