This publication is a documentary study and is devoted to the most neglected period of the Great Patriotic War - the summer of 1941, from the moment of the attack of enemy Germany on the Soviet Union until September of the same year, when the territory of Belarus was fully occupied by the Nazis. To create the book “Tragedy and Heroes. Belarus. Summer 1941”, only documentary sources were used: memoirs, memoirs, translated German books and documents from the archives of the Ministry of Defense of Russia and the National Archives of Belarus. The authors talk about the situation that prevailed in the pre-war period in the Belarusian direction, and show the significance of the resistance of the Belarusian people to fascist Germany. Much attention was also paid to the heroism of the civilian population and the soldiers of the Red Army, carried out painstaking work to restore the names of the heroes.
