The illustrated album includes sketches about the traditional clothing of the Orenburg Cossacks, describing the patterns and features of the development of uniform and household clothing, photographs of images of clothing from museum collections and made during the research work of the authors in ethnographic expeditions. The book also includes an essay on the history of the Orenburg Cossack army since its inception, containing a description of the important stages in the formation and functioning of the OKW. The photographs of the early 20th century from the funds of the local history museums of the Chelyabinsk and Orenburg regions and private collections are of particular value. Some of the archival photographs are published for the first time.
