The assassination of the Minister of Internal Affairs Bronislaw Piatacki was one of the most high-profile assassination attempts in interwar Poland. And for Ukrainian nationalists, it was a symbol of perhaps the greatest power that the revolutionary organization achieved in the 1930s. Minister Piatacki was one of the creators of Polish independence, and his biography is similar to the biographies of his Ukrainian peers. Everything changed after November 1918: Piatacki was building the Polish state, and his Ukrainian peers were an underground that fought against Poland and dreamed of their own statehood... Piatacki became one of the most influential Polish officials and died at the peak of his career at the hands of a Ukrainian - a representative of the younger generation, which was much more radical than his predecessors.
