Questions of wolf biology in the region are discussed on the basis of large original material and analysis of literature sources. Geothermal cataclysms were taking place regularly on the Eastern outlying districts of Asia at the end of the Quaternary period. They determined the main teatures of modern territorial distribution of the wolf, and relative isolation and territorialism of separate grouping served as the main precondition for formation of original phenotypes which developed further into the special teatures of populations and subspecies. The revealed ecological and morphological aspects of population divergence gave the possibility to specify diagnosis and distribution of subspecies described earlier and to base the reality of another new subspecies.
The methods of wolf population management are offered, role of the wolf in ecologic systems and problems of keeping of population genetic fund are discussed.
