The monograph examines the emergence and development of the Greek Catholic (Uniate) church in the Smolensk region in the 17th century. A special place in the monograph is given to the emergence of the Brest Church Union of 1596, its causes and development in the 17th century, dogmas and rites of the Greek Catholic church. The proposed monograph is written on the basis of source material from the State archives of the Smolensk region, some of which are being introduced into scientific circulation for the first time.
