Tersky Cossacks live in the North Caucasus from the 16th century. In this- monograph the history of formation and changes of this group is considered from the moment of its emergence until the beginning of the 20th century, as well as the participation and influence of the other nations of the Caucasus on these processes. The traditions of the Cossacks, their ceremonies, material and spiritual culture which developed in interaction with the neighboring nations and groups are investigated. It allows answering a question: what the Tersky Cossacks were in the past - the nation, an ethnographic group or a social group, a part of the estate. The book is intended first of all for the scientists researching history and ethnography not only of the Cossacks, but of the other nations of the North Caucasus and also Russians and Ukrainians. It can be of interest also to post-graduates, students and the widest range of readers.
