Sir Simon Michael Schama CBE FBA FRSL (born 13 February 1945) is an English historian specializing in art history, Dutch history, Jewish history, and French history. The plot of the first volume, covering the period from the X century BC and until 1492 AD, reveals to the reader the history of the birth of the Jewish people, tells about the formation of its national identity, about the development of the original Jewish world, which is becoming an integral part of other world cultures.
