This book is about the spring 2018 in which the idea of a decent Slovakia was born. Journalist Stefan Hrib speaks with civic activists Karolina Farska and Juraj Seliga and the book includes many powerful speeches from the squares, as well as beautiful photographs by Boris Nemeth. The year 2018 broke twice - first of all with the horrific murder of investigative journalist Jan Kuciak and fiancee Martina Kusnirova, and then with the fantastic reaction of young people and the general public. Organizers of the rallies For a Decent Slovakia together with tens of thousands of people across the country proved an incredible thing. And I'm not talking about the resignations of two unresignable politicians now. More importantly, the answer to the murders was not fear, resignation or roughness, but courage, love, and a tangible memory of the rallies of November 1989. The dream of a better Slovakia was restored and followed by action. These were the months in which Slovakia outdid itself. It was dramatic, determined, often moving days and weeks. In particular, however, it was a period that gave birth to hope. This book is our tribute to Jan Kuciak, Martina Kusnirova and their brave families. And it is our thank you to all those who have since been involved in renewing hope. For they have just changed and will change this country.
