The edition is devoted to the "Golden Age" in the history of the Russian theater, the period from 1824 to 1917 divided into three sub-periods: 1824-1852 - opening of the Small Theater, 1853-1897 - staging of the plays by A.Ostrovski and A.Chekhov, 1898-1917 - the epoch of the modern style in Russian culture. The second book of the edition scopes the period between the two historical shocks in Russia: the October Revolution of 1917 and the beginning of the Great Patriotic War.
