The monograph examines, based on literary sources of Rus, the contribution of Vladimir Vsevolodovich Monomakh (1053-1125), a prince, a major historical figure of the 11th-12th centuries, a Byzantine-educated writer, the author of the outstanding "Instruction" and co-editor of the new (Monomakh) edition of the "Tale of Bygone Years", to the development of early Russian literature and all-Russian statehood.
