The Democrat Party was founded on January 7, 1946, during the long-lasting single-party rule in Turkey. He came to power on May 14, 1950, after four years of opposition. He was successful in the 1954 and 1957 general elections. Due to his actions, especially after the 1954 elections, he drew the reaction of the opposition parties, some people and some soldiers. Various juntas who opposed the government removed the government, which had come to power in a democratic way, from his duty. The first in the series of coups carried out in the Republican period was carried out on May 27, 1960. Lieutenant General Cemal Madanoglu was one of the few high-ranking members who took part in the coup. Madanoglu was decisive both in the preparation phase of the coup and with the important decisions he took initiative on the night of the coup.
