Written by the artist, woman-writer Olga Andreeva-Karlail the book presents the author's version of the events of 1967 when she for the first time got acquainted with the outstanding Russian writer Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn and then her husband secretly took out the manuscript of the novel "The Gulag Archipelago" to the United States in order to publish it there. Olga wrote this book in order to give response to the claim made by Solzhenitsyn in 1974 who said that Olga's negotiations with the publishers aimed at making the edition merchantable because she was guided by commercial reasons while the lives of many Soviet people depended on the delay of the publication.
