Quite a few stories about priest Sava Katrafilov have reached us. Writers and historians have mentioned him in articles, chronicles and books which were occasioned by anniversaries related to the Bulgarians' struggle to overthrow Ottoman Turkish rule. Still, we don't know much about him. Katrafilov's personality is invariably associated with revolutionary Hristo Botev (1848-1876) and his detachment, who crossed the Danube River from Romania into Bulgaria and marched to their defeat (and Botev's heroic death) in the Balkan Range.
