This book is the first attempt to comment on folklore retelling of the Bible in Russian, Ukranian and Belarusian traditions. The book is composed mainly of archival and collected materials introduced in science for the first time. National legends on topics of the Old and the New Testaments along with tokens and superstitions connected with folklore "biblical" narrations clearly show that "The Public Bible" comprises canonical and apocryphal plots, archaic and ethno-cultural stereotypes.
