The literary work of Theophylact of Ohrid fits into the post-Great Moravian era of the completed Christianization of the Slavs, in which both culture and the Church's language developed in relatively steady forms of south and eastern origin of Orthodoxy, while in Western Slavic culture and language developed in the context of the Western Catholic spirit of Roman Catholicism. The aim of this book is not to give Teophylact's Gospel prefaces in terms of textology and textual criticism. Thus, it does not examine the preservation of manuscripts (origins, translations, transcriptions), nor, naturally, the relations between them. The interpretations in this book reflect the theological dimension of Theophylact's texts, especially from the biblical-theological perspective.
