The book deals with the effects of the influence of Soviet totalitarian ideology on the Ukrainian language and Ukrainian lexicographic practice. Ideological factors led to the formation of a particular politicized language, which became the embodiment of ideological dogmas, a means of ideological influence and the formation of a worldview appropriate to the interests of the ruling top of a totalitarian society. In the Ukrainian territory, the new language had both features common to the whole Soviet totalitarian discourse, and specific ones caused by the interference with the internal development of the Ukrainian language in order to bring it closer to Russian and further assimilation. Particular attention is paid to the lexicographic techniques of ideologizing the vocabulary of different thematic groups, as well as the main tendencies in the modern vocabulary development of lexical units related to changes in the political structure of the country, outlook and system of values of the Ukrainian people.
