These are the unique stories of Ukrainians in Lemkivschyna, Nadia, Kholmshchyna, Podlasie, Lubachivschyna and Western Boykivschyna, who were deported from their lands in 1947 as part of Operation Vistula and scattered to the north and west of the new Polish state. 125,000 Ukrainians were relocated to formerly German territories. From there, ethnic Germans were also forcibly evicted, and the Ukrainians filled these so-called "returned lands."
