The genre of urban fantasy is not simple: it will not be possible to just take a herd of mythical creatures from the dictionary and fill the cities with them. Urban fantasy requires modern myths built on urbanism. These myths must be nourished by the juices of the city, and the legends and stories must be understandable to the people living in the stone jungle. It is even more difficult to create a fictional world within an urban agglomeration that lives by its own laws and is logically woven into the rhythm of the metropolis. Therefore, not every writer takes up urban fantasy. It is valuable that the writer in his novel "The Kyivan" managed not only to construct a unique and logical world, but also to make the reader believe in its reality.
