The monograph publishes excavation materials from the Early Iron Age burial ground of the Kartal settlement on the Lower Danube (9th–8th centuries BC). In total, over 530 burials have been studied, which makes this burial ground one of the largest in the Carpathian-Balkan region. In parallel with the publication of the materials, issues of the history and archaeology of the Lower Danube region as an integral part of the vast area of South-Eastern Europe during the Early Iron Age are considered.
