The book is dedicated to the Bulgarian population in Aegean Macedonia (Northern Greece). Chronologically, the study focuses on the period from the last decades of Ottoman rule in Macedonia to the modern times. Leading in the research is the ethnodemographic approach. Based on various historical sources, among which the numerous statistical data stand out, the author argues his main thesis - that the so-called "Slavophone" (Slavic-speaking) population in Aegean Macedonia is Bulgarian in its ethnic characteristics.
