The book by Dr. Ewa Mostowicz-Kapciak is a pioneering work, based on in-depth studies of Polish and Russian source publications devoted to the image of the old art of the Kingdom of Poland in Russian-language guides and antiquities studies. The aim of the work is to determine the area of Polish old art that Russians were particularly interested in and to consider whether they noticed the distinctiveness of the creativity of the neighboring nation, its unique character, or whether they wanted to see only what was Russian in order to justify their presence on Polish lands.
