The monograph characterizes the archaeological sites of the Upper Paleolithic, Neolithic, Bronze Age, Early Iron Age, Middle Ages and Modern times, located within the modern city of Kemerovo and nearby territories. Based on written historical sources, the book highlights the ethnic composition and settlement of aborigines in the Pretomye in the XV–XVII centuries, the beginning of Russian colonization in Kuzbass, the settlement of the current territory of Kemerovo and adjacent territories, the development of the first proto-urban settlements on the territory of Kemerovo before the opening of the Kemerovo mine.
