The present book is dedicated to the important problems of the history of Kalmykia of 1941 – 1945. On basis of numerous archive materials and statistic data the author describes the prewar situation, shows the transformation of economy to support the country’s military needs and the contribution of the Kalmyk people to the defeat of Hitler’s Germany. For the first time, with the use of new historical sources, the author touches upon the questions of incursion by the german fascist forces into the country, establishment of an occupation regime and cooperation by some part of the republic’s population and by the Kalmyv immigrants with the Nazi.
