The Advanced Cocial and Political Research Institute (ASPRI) is the reserch institute of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Latvia. Since its creation in 2004, the task of ASPRI has been to coordinate interdisciplinary reserch projects inolving the academic staff and gradulate students of the four departaments in the faculty, wich are political science, sociology, information and library studies and commonication studies. The primary areas of reserch include the following: 1) Latvia in international affairs, particulary relatins with Russia and Eiropean neighbours; 2)democracy, social integration and minorities; 3) regional and human development in Latvia; and 4) media, information, social memory and culture.
