Les, a former L'viv native, is a teacher and literary critic who has lived in Kyiv for many years. His close friend Slavko, with whom Les has been friends since school days, was mobilized, but was wounded near Izium and returned to L'viv for rehabilitation. Lesyk, on the other hand, has remained in the rear in Kyiv since the beginning of the war, occasionally volunteering and continuing his teaching work. Visiting his wounded comrade in L'viv, he realizes that Slavko has changed a lot as a result of the war. Although Slavko does not openly condemn Les' for not fighting, Les' feels that the old friendship is no longer possible.
