This book is composed of texts by Algirdas Martynas Budreckis, originally written in Lithuanian and English. They are related to the period of existence of the first Republic of Lithuania, its struggle for independence and efforts to survive and regain freedom when it was lost in the 1940s. Historian Algirdas Martynas Budreckis (1938-2000) was born in Newark, the largest city in the state of New Jersey (USA), in 1963 graduated from Rutgers University, where he received a doctorate in philosophy (1965). The texts collected in this book are about the history of modern Lithuania (roughly 1918-1944), related especially to its fight for freedom and independence in the arenas of military, political and diplomatic battles.
