The first edition of the Esenin Encyclopedia “Memorable Places and Literary Geography” is dedicated to Esenin memorial sites, literary toponyms of the poet and timed to the 125th anniversary of his birth. The content of the work is directly related to S. A. Esenin's biography and art, to the memory of him in Russia and in the world. The volume includes 357 articles describing 442 toponyms. All articles are divided into three groups by their nature. The first consists of articles about geographical points related to the biography of the poet. These are articles about all the cities and other localities, rivers, lakes, and seas that the poet saw and visited or was passing through. The reference article about a geographical point gives a complete description of this toponym in connection with the biography of the poet: dates of stay in this place, life and creative events. The second group consists of articles about literary toponyms related to the philosophical and artistic content and to poetics of Esenin's works. Their purpose is to reveal the meaning and functions of a literary toponym in a work, its sources, semantics, perception by contemporaries and researchers, as well as literary parallels and context. The third and largest group of the articles are articles about geographical locations, which are somehow reflected in the poet's biography and in the works of the poet. There are Index of Titles and Names, as well as List of accepted abbreviations and List of sources.
