In the history of world culture, the era of Abu Rayhan Muhammad b. Ahmad al-Biruni (973-1048) is especially significant and is not limited only to the years of his life. It includes a special layer of creative activity of the 9th-12th centuries, a system of which the legacy of the great thinker occupies an intermediate position between its beginning and completion. This time was characterized by the flourishing of the spiritual and material culture of the Iranian peoples, including the Tajiks, the traditions of which turned out to be very stable in subsequent historical periods. AL-Biruni lived and worked at a time when the culture of the region had already received a powerful creative impulse during the reign of the Tajik Samanid dynasty in the 9th-10th centuries. The values of the past are an important component of the spiritual and material culture of modern Tajik society, the basis of the national identification of the people.
