The book presents the history of 1946 as a year of choice. The study focuses on the dilemmas of dependence and freedom. It presents the first scenes of lyrical adoration of the communist leader Georgi Dimitrov. The author interprets the battles for supremacy in the Union of Bulgarian Writers and its instrumentalization as a subordinate organization of the totalitarian regime. He studies the favoring of Socialist realism and the tendencies for literary servility to the state policy. Describes and gives meaning to the persecution of freedom of speech and its personal bearers - Krustyo Pastuhov, Trifon Kunev, Tsveti Ivanov, Petar Goryanski, Ivan Radoslavov, Ivan Bogdanov and others, who manifested themselves as faces of disagreement. Reconstructs the oppositional and alternative literary publicity. The book presents diverse stories, which, collected in the synchronous world of 1946, turn the year into a limit and threshold, but also into a personal, human year.
