The science in Russia did not result from evolution of a cultural component of Russian history. It was Peter I who brought science from Europe, i.e. “dragged” it in Russia having promised “rich board” to European scientists for their work. Yet, the paradox was that the science could not develop in Russia, as it was unnecessary to the state. The Soviet power demanded only such science that could reinforce it either physically or ideologically. Other kinds of science were treated with indifference. The present time does not differ in this sense as a traditional “dragged in” Russian science came to its end and a new one has not acquired a proper status yet.
