The Dialectal Atlas of Latvian. The lexical material has been systematically gathered since 1953 throughout Latvia (in more than 500 subdialects) according to a unified program containing 670 questions. The atlas presents detailed maps and extensive commentaries. This work reflects the distribution of names (appellatives) of wild and cultivated plants, some domestic and other animals, objects and notions of material culture, human qualities, natural phenomena etc. in all Latvian dialects.
