The publication of ethnologist Mgr. Katarina Babcakova, PhD. offers a syncretic view of archaic ceremonial chain and circle dances tied to spring festive occasions called chorovods and presents the results of archival and field ethnological research in more than 200 localities in our territory. The publication provides information on the occurrence, forms, musical accompaniment and functional and symbolic connections of over 700 chorovod cycles based on research of material mainly from the beginning of the 20th century. The study by ethnomusicologist Mgr. Alzbeta Lukacova, PhD. characterizes the songs functionally related to the choirs from the musical point of view. The publication also contains chapters on the context of dance history, source material and an original chapter on the methodology of their teaching in dance-pedagogical practice.
