The Code of Conduct on the Prohibition of Torture or Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (Article 3 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms) is the first in a series of cases of the European Court of Human Rights on Ukraine. It presents a set of decisions of the Court, which consider cases of violations by Ukraine as a contracting party to Art. 3 of the Convention.
The content of the collection is structured and divided into categories of cases: 1) excessive use of force during detention, beating of detainees by police (police) in order to obtain confessions, application of inappropriate conditions of detention in police departments and temporary detention facilities; 2) on the application of inappropriate conditions of detention, beating of persons, failure to provide them with medical care during the transfer, in the "corridors of death", pre-trial detention centers and penitentiary institutions; 3) on the improper investigation by the State of cases of torture or inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment (procedural aspect of violations of Article 3 of the Convention).
